SqoolTools
is a secure learning environment
that promotes student collaboration.
SqoolTools is a virtual learning
environment, built on Moodle open source software. It has
been configured to meet the needs of K-12 teachers and
students. SqoolTools provides several tools that support
student collaboration while maintaining student safety.
Specifically, SqoolTools
provides interactive collaborative tools including blogs,
wikis, chat, podcasts, and discussion forums. In addition,
teachers assign specific tools to collaborative groups use the grouping
tools. The teacher maintains full control over all the
settings, including who has access to the classroom, thus student
identity is protected.
In addition, student surnames,
city and state, and email address are hidden from view to all
users excepts teachers. SqoolTools doesn't collect
information from children or allow children to create accounts on
SqoolTools. Teachers are responsible for creating student
accounts and enrolling students in their classes.
